What It Treats

When Discs and Nerves Are the Source

Spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine along a precise axis, creating a negative intradiscal pressure that draws herniated or bulging disc material back toward its center and promotes the inflow of nutrients and oxygen into damaged tissue.

Sessions are performed on a motorized traction table. You remain fully clothed, a harness is fitted to your pelvis or neck, and the table does the work while you rest comfortably.

Conditions Commonly Addressed

  • ›Lumbar or cervical herniated discs
  • ›Degenerative disc disease
  • ›Sciatica and radiating leg or arm pain
  • ›Facet joint syndrome
  • ›Spinal stenosis (select presentations)
  • ›Posterior facet syndrome

Clinical Benefits

Why Patients Choose Decompression

No Surgery Required

Achieve meaningful disc relief without going under the knife or enduring a lengthy surgical recovery.

Targeted Pressure Relief

Computer-controlled tension is dialed in to your exact spinal level, applying precise force where it is needed most.

Comfortable & Relaxing

Most patients find sessions deeply relaxing. You remain fully clothed and many doze off during treatment.

No Downtime

Walk in, walk out. Sessions typically take 20–30 minutes and you can return to daily activities immediately after.

What to Expect

Your Decompression Session, Step by Step

Treatment plans are individualized. Here is what a typical course looks like from your first visit onward.

1

Consultation & Imaging Review

Your chiropractor reviews your history, current imaging, and any red-flag contraindications to confirm you are a good candidate for decompression therapy.

2

Harness Fitting & Positioning

You lie fully clothed on the motorized table. A pelvic or cervical harness is fitted and the angle and tension parameters are programmed to your prescription.

3

Cyclic Traction (20–30 min)

The table alternates between gentle distraction and partial relaxation phases, gradually increasing the negative intradiscal pressure while your muscles stay relaxed.

4

Adjunct Therapies

Sessions are often paired with heat, cold laser, or electrical muscle stimulation to further reduce inflammation and reinforce the disc healing environment.

5

Progress Reassessment

At scheduled intervals your chiropractor reassesses pain levels, range of motion, and functional gains to fine-tune the remaining sessions in your plan.
